Simple ways to save money

Everyone knows times are tough these days and its important to save money anywhere we can,
without giving up the things we enjoy in life. I am a father and a husband trying to make it on a single income. I have have been able to do this for sometime without giving up the lifestyle im used to living. I have composed some quick and easy ways to save money.

  • Everyone washes and Drys their dirty clothes. Its expensive to run a dryer and can significantly raise your electric bill. Instead of drying your clothes completly only partially dry them then lay them out on a line or around your house. In the winter there is two benefits to this method. Not only do you save money on your electric bill. You also humidify your house at the same time. Do you Suffer from nose bleeds in the winter I know I used to until I started doing this.

  • A hudge money saver is smart shopping. Especially if you have babies or young kids. I have a one year old son and found that toys/ clothes and things of that nature can be very expensive to buy new. A small toy at wallmart can cost 20$ easy, go to goodwill or a salvation army where you will usually find a wide variety of toys clothes and other things you may need for your baby at a fraction of the cost. Everyweek I find brand new clothes name brand that I know would cost 20 or 30 dollars new for about 3-5 dollars and some cheaper. Ask yourself do you think your baby cares if you got the clothes/toys at goodwill . I dont think so. I have saved no joke thousands by shopping smart in one year.

  • Another thing that can add up fast is haircuts. The more people you have in your family the faster this adds up. Ask yourself how often do you get your hair cut. every 4 weeks or so? 20-25 dollars a cut. Two tricks I have learned that allows some people with simpler hair cuts to never pay for a hair cut again, and others with more complex hair cuts to allow for more time inbetween cuts. My dad bought a device that hooks onto your vacume that gives you something like a buzz cut or a spike cut witch is the hair cut I had been paying for every month. This device did the same thing for free. For those of you who dont want buzz cuts this wount work for you but consider this. Inbetween hair cuts you can trim and clipper your own hair slightly depending on your capeabilitiy and instead of every4 weeks make it every 6 weeks between haircuts. Over a year you will have eliminated about 4 cuts thats about 100$ savings for one person depending on how much you pay for a cut.

  • We all know that winter is more expensive for several reasons. Probably the biggest expense is heating your home. But how do we cut back and not suffer being cold all the time. Ask yourself what temperature do you leave your thermastat at when you go to bed. 70 or 75 degrees. Try this, at night or while at work turning your thermastat back 4 to 5 degrees from what you normally keep it at and adding a blanket if sleeping you wount even know the difference. But how much will this save .. You will be supprised. Take 30 minuts in the winter and count the number of times your furnace kicks on at 72 opposed to 68 it can save hundreds.

I hope these few simple tips helped you and I know that if you follow these tips you will save money. Probably alot of money. If you enjoyed these tips look foward I will post new ones in the future good luck to all.
